Key Information

The following editors positions are open to any UA undergraduate, graduate or doctoral student in good standing. The roles will run through the 2026-2027 academic school year. 


The publications Selene and Sixty-Three are being developed through a working partnership with MASTHEAD, an alumni nonprofit that advocates for diversity in student media. The editors will be appointed by MASTHEAD’s Selection Committee. The Selection Committee is comprised of the co-chairs of MASTHEAD’s Advising Committee, the founding student editors of Selene and Sixty-Three, former editors-in-chief of Alice and NIneteen Fifty-Six, and a member of the MASTHEAD Board of Directors. 


These are paid positions. The exact amount of the monthly stipend will be determined after MASTHEAD completes its spring fundraising drive and explores grant opportunities over the summer.



Editor-in-Chief, Selene

The Editor-in-Chief oversees Selene magazine, a women’s magazine in Tuscaloosa, Alabama developed by students at the University of Alabama. The Editor-in-Chief’s oversight includes all Selene material published on social media, on the Web, or in print.


The Editor-in-Chief will also be tasked with helping Selene shift to a greater digital focus through an expanded online presence, newsletters, and more active social media. The Editor-in-Chief will enter the role with the understanding that print editions will be published as funding allows but are not guaranteed.
